The one thing we knew we wanted more than anything was to be parents. Sean and I have been together for almost 15 years and had been trying to get pregnant on our own for two incredibly painful years as our friends and family around us had children. After many tears and a lot of discussion we decided we would seek help.

 

We met with our Olive team who provided us so much hope. It was this hope that sustained us through our many medicated cycles before we chose IVF as the right fit for our family. With the support of our team in Victoria, we travelled to Vancouver for our retrieval where we ended up with one viable embryo. Sean told me that it only takes one and we went into our transfer scared, hopeful and optimistic. We have been fortunate enough to welcome our little embryo baby Miles James earth side this year. He is our greatest dream come true.

 

One of the greatest parts of our story comes in the form of our niece Eva who at 3.5 years old and fighting her own battle with leukemia was able to understand where her cousin came from and help auntie be brave with her medications. She excitedly tells his story of being a scientist baby who had scientist babysitters. The immediate love that she showed, along with the support of our families and close friends have made our journey one that has healed so many parts of our hearts.
