An infertility journey is a long one and it seems like eternity when you are in it. Mine and my husband’s journey was two years until we were able to conceive via IUI and get our handsome boy! I found out that I had a blocked tube and my husband’s sperm results were up and down throughout the process. I went through a tubal opening procedure, that was nerve wracking, and quite uncomfortable but the doctors were able to open my blocked tube without much of an issue. Unfortunately, we were not able to get pregnant after this and we were well past the point in our journey where it was super stressful to try and conceive naturally.
This is when we decided that it was time to proceed with IUI. It took us some time because it is not always easy to admit that you need outside intervention and that your baby will likely be conceived in a way you did not imagine. Ultimately, a baby conceived in any way is amazing! We proceeded with the treatment and were overjoyed and very fortunate to have a successful IUI on the first attempt and be blessed with a healthy baby boy!
Infertility is something that stays with you and brings stress to trying to conceive again. It is scary to think about the numerous negative pregnancy tests, and it brings up various emotions that act as a trigger to that previous painful time. We got pregnant naturally for our second, but unfortunately miscarried. We are still on this journey, but I know that if we did not go through the struggles the first time then we would not have our son today, who was meant for us! It is a challenging journey but we know in our hearts that our growing family that is meant to be will happen, it just takes some time and it may take longer than expected.
I do want to say that Olive Fertility has been amazing! We saw Dr. Nakhuda and he has been great throughout the processes. His team of nurses and program coordinator are beyond amazing and have been outstanding through our first and now second fertility journey.
