Everyone’s treatment path will be different, which means there is no standard cost for fertility treatment. Scheduling a consultation and undergoing assessment are essential steps to uncover your specific fertility needs and the corresponding potential costs of your personal treatment plan. However, to help you plan you can use this cost comparison of treatments at Olive Fertility versus the typical cost of treatment at similar clinics in the USA:
Note: IVF costs do not include medication. Costs assume patient will travel three times per cycle – 1 night for Phase 1 (orientation), 5 nights for Phase 3 (egg retrieval), and a subsequent 2 nights for embryo transfer. Food costs increase if you are accompanied by a partner. Calcucated at a $1.35 exchange rate.
Check with your employer to determine if you have fertility coverage. Click here for more information on fertility coverage by state.
While everyone’s treatment plan is different, this is an example of the timing associated with an IVF cycle to get a sense of when you would be required to travel to Olive Fertility Victoria.
All IVF cycles start with an orientation, which can be done over the phone, and provides the opportunity for the nursing team to explain the IVF process to you.
After this, a 1-day trip to the clinic is required to obtain your medication and be taught how to take each of the medications.
Next: Phase 2: Prime
This starts on Cycle Day 1 (the first day of your period) of the month prior to your stimulation phase. This does not involve any monitoring and can all be done at home.
Next: Phase 3: Stimulation
Day 1 (home): This is the first day of stimulation. You will begin medication at home. This begins the stimulation phase.
Days 2 – 6 (home): You will continue to take your stimulation medication at home until day 6, at which point a blood test is required. Some patients can request a requestion to have blood drawn at home and their same-day results sent to us to avoid an extra trip.
Days 7 – 15 (Olive Fertility Victoria): On day 7 you will travel to Victoria, BC. You will still be in the stimulation phase, but as each person responds to the medication at their own rate the Olive specialist and fertility nursing team will begin monitoring your ovaries and follicular development via bloodwork and ultrasounds from this day out until egg retrieval day. Typically, stimulation lasts from 9-11 days of injections, and then your egg retrieval is scheduled 36 hours after you have been prescribed the trigger injection. Patients are asked to wait until the day after egg retrieval to travel back home.
Most IVF cycles are now frozen cycles which means we freeze all embryos until you are ready for your Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET). This would require two trips to Olive Fertility in Victoria – one for the ultrasound and another for the embryo transfer.
As a leading fertility centre, we’ve helped many families achieve their dreams of parenthood.
From day one, we knew without a doubt that we wanted to be parents. We were both so passionate about the idea of raising children, and the love we had found in one another just deepened so dramatically once we began discussing our options for starting a family.

Read MoreLike many middle class educated professional women, I was unable to find a suitable mate. I spent my 30s pining for Mr Right, so I could get on with creating a family much like the one I grew up in. After some challenging relationships my 40th birthday marked a turning point in my search. I was no longer going to look for “him” I was going to create my own family.
Read MoreOur journey to parenthood still feels surreal. Infertility is a rollercoaster that you don’t want to be on, taking you slowly up each hill and barreling you down, only to climb another. Initially when my husband and I started trying to grow our family, we “didn’t stress” (which ended up being the most common and unwelcome piece of advice offered by well-meaning friends). When we didn’t get pregnant after a few months of trying, I tried not to worry even though I was desperately afraid that something was wrong.

We tried getting pregnant for years with no success. After consulting different doctors we found out that I have Polycystic Ovaries, which is the main reason why I couldn’t get pregnant.
Read MoreAfter almost 5 years of trying to conceive and working with doctors, plus 4 failed rounds of IUI we looked at the thought of proceeding down the journey of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). Neither Bryce or I had anything medically wrong that prevented us from having children or impacted the process, it just simply wasn't going to happen on its own.
